On August 12, 2024, the Women Supporting Peace Association proudly participated in a heartwarming and impactful community event at Wat Kaloprek Chhongrok, Chongrok Village, Chongrok Commune, Kong Pisey District, Kampong Speu Province. The event, themed “Release of Fish Fry, Distribution of Study Materials, and Distribution of Food to 18 Monks,” brought together hundreds of local participants and various organizations united in the mission of supporting the community and fostering peace.
The event was graced by over 500 attendees, including teachers and students from Barn Primary School and Preah Udom San Mony High School, who eagerly participated in the activities. Along with local leaders and volunteers, the event also saw active participation from groups such as the Youth Council of Higher Education Institutions (CEC), Khmer Youth League for Democracy, Moonlight Youth Association, Women Supporting Peace Association, and Global Bulletins Organization.
Release of Fish Fry: A Symbol of Renewal
One of the key highlights of the event was the release of fish fry into local water bodies, symbolizing the renewal and preservation of natural resources. This tradition not only promotes environmental consciousness but also signifies hope and the importance of nurturing our ecosystem for future generations.
Distribution of Study Materials
Education is a cornerstone of empowerment, and part of the event focused on supporting local students. Study materials, including textbooks, notebooks, and essential stationery, were distributed to students in need, ensuring they have the necessary resources for their education. By equipping students with the tools they need to succeed, we are investing in their future and the future of our community.
Feeding the Monks: A Gesture of Respect and Gratitude
As a sign of respect and gratitude, food was provided to 18 monks at the local Wat Kaloprek Chhongrok. This part of the ceremony was an opportunity to honor the monks for their spiritual guidance and the important role they play in the community. Providing food to the monks also symbolizes the mutual respect between religious institutions and the community.
A Unified Effort for Lasting Change
The participation of various groups, including local educational institutions, youth organizations, and NGOs, demonstrated the collective effort to make a positive impact on the community. From education to environmental conservation and spiritual support, the event underscored the importance of unity and shared responsibility in fostering peace, growth, and sustainability.
This event not only reflected the values of Women Supporting Peace Association but also highlighted the power of collaboration and compassion in creating lasting change. As we continue to work together, we believe that these efforts will contribute to building a stronger, more resilient community, united in the pursuit of peace and prosperity for all.
